The Apple Award Gala Honoring Tom Humes was a great success and AFC thanks our event sponsors and patrons for their support and participation.  A special performance by the UC Pep Band and heartfelt remarks by Tom Humes made the event especially memorable and enjoyable.

The Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati (AFC) will honor Thomas H. Humes with the Alice and Harris Weston Apple Award for his leadership, advocacy and service to the community at its annual Apple Award Gala on June 6, 2013. Reception 6:30pm | Dinner 7:15pm.

Tom Humes is President of Great Traditions Land and Development Company, one of Cincinnati’s leading homebuilding and real estate development companies, specializing in the creation of “life-style oriented, master planned communities.” He has created 35 residential communities, developed over 4,000 acres of land and more than 5,000 home sites.

Great Traditions has been named Builder of the Year and four times named Developer of the Year by the Homebuilders Association of Greater Cincinnati. He also serves on the Board of the UC Foundation. He is a past President of UCATS and co-chaired UC’s Campaign for the Campus. He received the Carl H. Lindner Medal for Outstanding Business Achievement in ‘07, the Distinguished Achievement Award from UC’s Department of Real Estate in ‘00, and the UC Presidential Award for Excellence in ‘87.

In 2009, he received the Spirit of Construction Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Greater Cincinnati construction industry, the People of Vision Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award for Entrepreneurship from UC’s Center for Entrepreneurship. He has served on the Boards of the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, Greater Cincinnati Port Authority, Leadership Council of the Metropolitan Growth Alliance, and the Riverfront Advisors.

Mr. Humes graduated from UC’s College of Business in ‘71 with a degree in marketing, and earned a master’s in marketing and media communication from the College of A&S in ‘77. As an undergraduate, he was named Mr. Bearcat (UC’s outstanding graduate), Outstanding Senior in the College of Business, and served as UC’s mascot, “The Bear.”
