Stan Kaplan is a Cincinnati physician, professor, and philanthropist, who has improved the built environment of Greater Cincinnati. Through his leadership and generous support the city has a whole collection of built works – downtown, uptown, and around town – of superior architectural design. They add value to the organization they serve and bring recognition to the entire community.

Dr. Kaplan and his late wife, Mickey Jarson Kaplan, first became involved with a signature architect project at the Aronoff Center for the Arts, where the marvelous Jarson-Kaplan theater bears their names. Subsequently, the lent support for the theater at the University of Cincinnati and the performance center at Cincinnati Ballet’s headquarters on Central Parkway. Dr. Kaplan played a critical role in the decision to build a new headquarters for the Contemporary Arts Center in the heart of the city and he was a member of the committee that selected Zaha Hadid to design the building, which has won international acclaim.

Kaplan is professor emeritus at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry. He has lectured and published widely on creative forces that inspire the work of Frank Lloyd Wright. A trustee for a number of area nonprofits, including the Cincinnati Museum Center, Cincinnati Ballet, Contemporary Arts Center, Playhouse in the Park, and Taft Museum of Art, he has sponsored architecture-designed building projects and programming for these other organizations.
